Our History
Kansas Teachers Community Credit Union (KTCCU) has proudly served its members since 1949, when it was chartered to serve the employees of Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg – now known as Pittsburg State University. Founded by P.A. Hoberholtzer, the credit union began operations in the campus bookstore and was built on the principle of people helping people.
As membership grew, KTCCU moved to 105 W. 5th Street in Pittsburg and hired its first full-time manager, Al Blom. Upon Mr. Blom’s retirement in 1983, Henry Buset served as manager until 2002. Under the leadership of President Mark Kolarik, KTCCU expanded its field of membership to include the Pittsburg trade area, residents and workers in at least 51 Kansas counties, and all teachers statewide. To support its growing community, KTCCU built a new facility at 416 N. Broadway in 1982, and it still operates as the Main Branch today.
Today, KTCCU operates five branches across Southeast Kansas and continues to grow under the leadership of President Elesa Parsons. While a lot has changed over the years, our commitment has remained the same: to provide quality financial services with personal, member-focused care.
As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, KTCCU exists to serve our members – not to generate profits for shareholders. Our mission is to be a sound, quality-driven organization that offers the most desirable financial services while safeguarding our members’ assets.
At KTCCU, you are not just a number – you are a member.
We serve individuals across Kansas and beyond - including many who do not realize they are eligible!
